Itinerary

This exceptional tour is designed especially for students of criminal justice and political science, and members
of the
legal and law enforcement professions.
However, the
tour is open to anyone interested in gaining a better understanding of Today's Russia.

Estimated Cost:  $3,145 per person double occupancy
(plus airfare, visa, and academic credit, if desired).


This fully escorted tour includes all in-country transportation, lodging, three meals a day, additional guides and tours. 
(Personal spending money and gratuities not included.)

Day 1 Depart from BLOOMINGTON, IL

Day 2 Arrive in Moscow and be met by your personal escort at the airport.  Travel by motorcoach to Vladimir and check into your hotel in the center of this historic city.

Days 2 - 5

Criminal Justice tour group at the American Home

 

Tour of Vladimir, including Assumption and St. Dimitrius Cathedrals, the Crystal Museum, the Museum of Old Vladimir, and the Golden Gates.

Experience Russian hospitality through dinner with a Russian family and at a reception at the American Home.

Visit the Vladimir Juridical Institute which trains officers for the Russian militia (police) and the Vladimir Regional Militia Training Center which prepares enlisted militia personnel.  See several prisons.  Meet with Russian attorneys and visit a Russian court.

Visit Suzdal, the remarkably well preserved 18th century community with its outdoor museum of wooden architecture, and other historic sites.  Enjoy the peaceful panorama of this rural landscape.


Days 6 - 7

Demonstration at Vladimir Militia Training Center

 

Depart early morning by motorcoach for an overnight visit to ancient Murom.  Stay with a host family.  Learn about Murom's legendary hero, Illia Muromets.  Meet with students from the Murom Institute. 

 

Day 7


Return to Vladimir in the evening and catch the overnight train to St. Petersburg.

Days 8 - 10

Tour Peter the Great's capitol.  Some highlights of the tour will include The Hermitage in the Winter Palace, and the Peter and Paul Fortress.  Cruise the canals, weather permitting.  Enjoy a spectacular folk concert at the Nikolaevsky Palace to complete your stay in St. Petersburg.

After the folk concert, take an overnight train to Moscow.
 

Day 11 - 12 Take a city tour, visit Red Square and the Kremlin, including the Armory Museum housing tsarist coaches, thrones, and costumes, and Faberge egg collection.  Visit GUM department store, and attend the famed Moscow Circus.
 
Day 13 Depart for the U.S.
