Quilts & Crafts
of the Golden Ring

Meet Russian quilters and craftsmen!

Led by Susan Louis
Thequiltquest@aol.com

Susan Louis, a native New Yorker, married with three grown children, has been a quilter since 1985.  She started teaching quilting from her home and then expanded her horizons by teaching at community and senior centers, and in  the public schools as an artist in residence. Susan has traveled far and wide, teaching quilting in Russia in 1994 and 1997, traveling to France on a quilters exchange in 1996 and then to Japan for the International Quilt Show in 1999 as well as following the trail of the many quilt shows here in the U.S.  She was president of the Manhattan based Empire Quilters Guild, a non profit organization whose stated purpose is the enhancement of all aspects of quilting, for four years.  Her quilts have been exhibited in Russia, France and the United States and have won ribbons.  Quilting has not only provided an outlet for her creative energies, but has provided a very rich social milieu where she has been able to find her niche and calling in life.
